Come observe at Blake!

UPDATE:

There will not be a bus because of lack of interest. If you would like to observe rounds, we are at the Hyatt Regency, 1300 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. Rounds tomorrow start at 8 and go all day.

-----------------------------

Mike and Abbie have set up a great opportunity for those of you not competing at Blake to come watch rounds. Debaters from across the country will be there, so it is a great chance to flow some high level varsity debates.

We will be leaving from the upper doors of North at 7:15 and returning around 5:30.

Please let Mike know if you plan to attend (so we can make sure you're on the bus). This is open to ALL debaters who aren't competing, not just novices.

JV/ Novice State Results

Our first and second year debaters had a strong end to their season this past weekend at the JV/ Novice State Tournament at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

In the novice division, Kayla Dharampaul (sophomore, North) and Sarah Lunkenheimer (freshman, North) were both 4-1 and ended up placing 17th and 18th, respectively.

Anselmo Shim (freshman, South) was in the top sixteen.

Raffi Garnighian (freshman, South) was undefeated in preliminary rounds and lost in quarter-finals (top eight). Ruthie Nelson (freshman, South) was also in quarterfinals.

In Junior Varsity, Alex Ryan (sophomore, North)was 4-1 in preliminary rounds.

In Novice Public Forum, the team of Hayden Rutan and Jack Ryan (both freshmen, South)were in semi-finals, making them one of the top four Novice Public Forum teams-- a particular feat in Lakeville's first year competing in the event.

Congratulations to all debaters on an excellent season. I invite you all to join us on Wednesday, January 7 at 7 pm in the Lecture Hall at Lakeville South for an awards night to celebrate the season.
